7 things to get excited about at this year’s Mighty Hoopla festival

Get the biodegradable body glitter out – Mighty Hoopla’s back for the second time this year. And since the first acts were announced earlier this month, we’ve been suitably excited. So, here are the top 7 reasons we can’t wait for Sunday 3rd June 2018.

Brockwell Park

This year, Mighty Hoopla will be bringing a whole lotta love, fun and sparkle to South London’s Brockwell Park. We’re huge fans of last year’s Victoria Park and have spent many a sunny day partying at its festivals. BUT we’re excited to see how the new location’s going to look and to spread the Hoopla love down south.

Sink the Pink

Purveyors of all things glam and glitter, these guys are back again to queer-up the party the best way they know how – think drag, circus, and more dancing than your legs can handle. We last partied with them at Bestival in 2017 – and let us tell you, Sink the Pink know how to bring the party. We can’t wait to get our colourful, carnivalesque fix. Enough said.

The greatest selling American girl group of all time, the mighty TLC will be the headline act of this year’s festival, and that’s about the only information we needed in deciding how epic it will be. You’ll find us at the front moshing to ‘Creep’, hoping for ‘Waterfalls’ and turning away ‘scrubs’.

Belinda Carlisle

Our favourite post-punk princess turned ‘80s pop star, Belinda Carlisle will hopefully take to the stage with memorable hits like, ‘Heaven Is A Place On Earth’ and ‘Mad About You’ – but here’s hoping she spices things up a bit and play’s a little something from The Go-Go’s back catalogue. Maybe ‘We Go the Beat’ or ‘Vacation’ to put us in the California surf vibes.

Remember the 90s? Dancing to ‘C’est la Vie’ and ‘Blame it on the Weatherman’? We do. And we’ve got ‘C’est La Vie’ playing on a loop in our heads as we speak. With 2018 marking the 20th anniversary of B*Witched exploding into the charts, what better time to throw it back to with these girls than at Mighty Hoopla?

The Glory

Known for its wild parties, creative clientele and eclectic programme of special events, this East End queer cabaret bar is a regular haunt of ours. Returning for the second year, they’ll be turning the Mighty Hoopla bandstand into a super salacious performance playground. Woop!

Plus many more TBA…

Madonna? We can dream. We’re itching to find out who though…watch this space!

Tickets are available here. See you there?

Oh, and one thing to remember, you can never have enough glitter at this festival. Seriously!
