It’s January, and (for us, at least) the post-Christmas bod has truly arrived – our body’s usual water levels have been replaced by mulled wine and gravy.
Now, the last of the Quality Streets have been necked which means it’s time to get back to the gym. And we find the best way to get back into the swing of things is by doing it together – in a group workout. So we’ve slung together some of our favourite London gym classes that’ll make for the perfect post-Christmas sweat sesh.
Reshape at 1Rebel – St Mary’s Axe and Broadgate Circle
A HIIT class with a helluva lot of attitude. You’ll spend 50% of the class on the treadmill, and 50% on the floor (working out, not passed out). After you’ve been once, you’ll be addicted (we certainly are). The sleek studios and changing facilities are a bonus, too! Groove60 at Groove Cycle – London Bridge & Farringdon
Rough day at work? There’s absolutely no way you’ll leave this class without a smile on your face. SJ (Creator & CEO of GrooveCycle) is an absolute legend – she and her team will get you cycling to the beat of some epic playlists. Imagine dancing to Usher, on a bike. Struggling? Cardio at Ministry Does Fitness – Elephant and Castle
So, Ministry of Sound’s hidden booze vault has been turned into a gym, and we can’t think of a better place to do circuits. Similar to the club, it’s very dark and very loud – and the most fun we’ve ever had doing burpees (said no-one, ever). To top it off, the instructors are some of the best around. Book it here.
Shake & Ride at Boom Cycle – Hammersmith, Holborn, Battersea & Monument
A 30-minute session that includes a free shake makes this class the perfect lunchtime workout. Slick studios with loud music and passionate instructors make for a welcomed (and very sweaty) break from the office – and we love it! Oh, and the changing facilities are awesome too, with top quality hair dryers/straighteners and REN Skincare. Nice. Book here.
Sexy Saturdays, Core & More at The Refinery – Hackney
Scheduled for mid-morning, this class lets you keep your Saturday lie in while having your weekend workout done and dusted by early afternoon. Already a winner, right?
It’s a cool basement studio, with great tunes and fun vibes that help distract from the tone-up pain – but you’ll certainly feel it the next day!

Yoga in the Shard with Yogasphere – London Bridge
You’ll need a good stretch sesh after all that sweating – so why not do it from the 24th floor of The Shard? With a view to die for, we won’t blame you for peeping up from your downward dog. It’s great for all levels, and any yogis dream. Book it here.
