Garage Brunch | An afternoon of fried chicken and big tunes | Review

Re-wind. Enter, selecta! Throw on your garage swag and rewind to 1996-2001 by groovin’ to the best of the UK’s Two-Step and Garage anthems in one boomin’ day party filled with bangin’ food and an hour of signature cocktails. Brought to you by the guys behind Hip Hop Brunch and 90s Brunch, Garage Brunch features a host of fun-filled activities that will really get your weekend going.

The top-secret London venue for the brunch is revealed just a few days before, oozing old-school glamour perfect for an afternoon of garage mayhem.

Step aside smashed avo and poached eggs – food here comes in its most wicked form, fried. Garage fried chicken gets delivered in individual buckets full of succulent, juicy goodness, and there’s a Quorn option for the veggies – which we love to see. Fries and chipotle slaw are thrown in for good measure – plus some to-die-for hot sauce.

Booze-wise, for the first hour it’s bottomless in the form of fruity cocktails – a nice change from the usual brunch bubbles. After that the bar’s open to buy drinks for the rest of the afternoon at a standard London price.

And what about the entertainment? MC Creed’s Garage Bingo is a definite highlight with the master himself putting his garage twist on each number called. For Name That Tune, the DJ plays a few seconds of popular beats, first person to guess it wins. Garage karaoke was also a winner for us, because – any excuse to sing Craig David on stage, right?

The verdict? We love that unlike most boozy brunch bookings, this is a whole afternoon. It’s a test of your stamina, and you’ll have to put your hand in your pocket for drinks after the first hour, but it’s entirely worth it for the well-planned party games and banger after banger on the mic.

We reckon Garage Brunch is the perfect choice for a slightly alternative get-together with friends. It’s great for big groups, and we can guarantee that, like us, you’ll have an afternoon to remember.

With dates up until June, we suggest nabbing some tickets now!
