Nestled under the railway arches of Waterloo, The Vaults is currently playing host to a unique and powerful dining experience courtesy of famed American director Kate March along with her all-female creative collective, I AM.
An Evening of Meat is a tour-de-force of energetic choreography that’s merged with a six-course meal, and is solely designed inundate and indulge all of your senses.
As the dinners tuck into their meals, they are met with all-female dancers using the table as a stage while performing to music. The theatrical concept explores the ‘all-four position’ and the various emotions that go with it such as vulnerability, strength, stability, sensuality, power, domestication, and unbridled wildness. The performers try to get the audience involved as much as possible, much to the enjoyment of all the diners – yours truly even had a little dance to Depeche Mode’s ‘Enjoy the Silence’ with one of the performers.
Of course, on top of the performances is the six-course menu that kept on giving. Created by Michelin trained Head Chef, Chavdar Todorov, every dish is designed to tempt and tantalise your senses. Featuring such specialities such as a scoop of chicken liver, crisp pancetta, and braised mutton shoulder – what could be better. A meat lover’s haven.
Fret not if you’re a veggie because despite focusing mainly on meat, there are a plethora of other options – including vegetarian, fish and seafood. The supper comes with a bespoke cocktail and wine list that are meant to compliment your meal.
Following from hugely successful runs in Asia, Europe and Australia, American multi-hyphenate artist-come-entrepreneur, Kate March says: “I AM performances have brought me around the world, allowing me to engage with diverse audiences and to experiment with innovative concepts. Returning to London to share my creative evolution with this audience is more meaningful than words can express — I can’t wait to let my body do the talking.”
